How Slow is Faster! September 14, 2010 |
The most profound experience my clients describe as they cut their work hours is how Slow is Fast."
They are talking about the change from rushing all the time, with a head full of mind chatter, to operating more slowly and enjoying each experience.
People who Go Slow (I sometimes call it 'trying easier') actually find they achieve more. Most people are astounded initially, but the results are repeated time after time. You achieve more by going slow.
When people Go Slow they describe being much more fulfilled. They connect to what they are doing. They take time to experience what they are doing AND they take time to enjoy the satisfaction of completing a task or project. This all leads to a more fulfilling life.
Another consistent story I hear is that people who Go Slow feel much less stress. Rushing and being busy seem to create more stress. Slowing down, doing less but achieving more reduces your stress.
When you Go Slow Life feels enjoyable rather than dreadful.
In praise of SLOW -- You can find more information about the Slow Movement here.
The BENEFIT of Slowing down rather than rushing, is that you are more connected to what you do. Give it a try, even just for a couple of hours for a couple of days -- you might feel more fulfilled.
Have the time of your life this week.
